through 3 quarters

The Golden State Warriors were the big favorites here for a reason. After the three quarters, it increasingly looks like their powerful offense is too much for the Oklahoma City Thunder as the Dubs lead 87-58.

Point guard Stephen Curry (20 points) was the Warriors’ top scorer. Oklahoma City enjoyed the team combination of shooter Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and shooter Luguentz Dort. The first has 15 points in addition to five rebounds, while the second has 14 points.

This is the fewest points OKC has yet had this season heading into the fourth quarter.

What there is to know

After three home games, the Oklahoma City Thunder will be on the road. They will face the Golden State Warriors at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Chase Center after having had a few days off. Oklahoma City haven’t won a game against Golden State since November 25, 2019, but they will be looking to end the drought.

OKC managed to secure a solid victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, winning 123-115. The Thunder were down 41-19 by the end of the first quarter, but the team rallied to make a comeback. They relied on the efforts of shooter Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who shot 5 for 11 from downtown and finished with 27 points, five dimes and nine rebounds, and forward Darius Bazley, who had 20 points and six plates.

Meanwhile, the Warriors put up a good fight in their overtime game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, but ended up with a less than desirable result, falling 104-101. The Dubs were leading 37-20 at the end of the first quarter, but couldn’t hold onto their lead. The losing team was bolstered by point guard Stephen Curry, who had 36 points and eight assists in addition to seven boards.

The Thunder are clearly the underdogs, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. Smart bettors are those who keep their money on Oklahoma City opponents every time they hit the road.

Oklahoma City’s victory took them to 1-4 while Golden State’s loss brought them down to 4-1. We’ll see if Oklahoma City can repeat their recent success or if the Warriors bounce back and reverse their fortunes.
