OKC Public Schools Foundation adopts new mission statement and logo

Decisions to launch new logos and revise mission statements happen all the time in the for-profit and non-profit world. The purpose behind them is not always clear without explanation, although usually a lot of thinking goes on behind the scenes.

The Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation is proud to announce our new brand after careful consideration of our history, purpose, and evolution over the years.

Our organization was founded in 1985 by a group of community leaders interested in making a meaningful difference for Oklahoma City public schools. This was at a time when educational foundations were being created across the country in an attempt to strengthen support for their districts.

Ray Potts, the foundation’s first president, and his governing body of 22 trustees laid the groundwork for many of the foundation’s enduring collaborations with the district, including the Wall of Fame humanitarian awards, which were just held this week. last.

There have been a number of logos and mission statements over the years, and even a “Do Business As” change at the Oklahoma City Public School Foundation. For simplicity and clarity, we return to our legal name, Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation.

Our revised mission statement reads: “Advancing Excellence, Advocating Fairness, and Gaining Strong Support for Oklahoma City Public Schools.” We intentionally added the word fairness, because that’s the lens through which we do all of our work.

We’ve revised our logo for a more modern look that captures our traditional handprint in an abstract way, while symbolizing our city’s skyline. We have added four lines to represent our students, staff, families and community partners who are our constituents and who define our purpose.

We invite you to discover our new look on www.okckids.com. The main thing we want to convey throughout the process is that our work represents the future.

The future of our city lies in the future we create for all of our children.
