This year’s open registration period for the online healthcare marketplace begins Monday, November 1, and Oklahoma Legal Aid is offering mariners statewide to assist residents of the Oklahoma to assess their options.

Legal Aid’s Project Navigator is the result of a federal grant to help consumers make the right insurance decisions for their families and has provided training and certification to more than 40 mariners across the state.

Navigators are ready to answer questions and help consumers with their health insurance decisions. Browsers will not offer any advice or suggestion to consumers and are committed to being impartial. Open enrollment, which ends January 15, 2021, allows consumers to purchase new policies and make changes to existing coverage. In order to register for a Marketplace policy after open registration ends, consumers must request a Special Registration Period (SEP).

The companies offering health insurance in the Oklahoma market are Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BSBCOK), Bright Health, CommunityCare Oklahoma (CCOK), Medica Insurance Co., Oscar Health, and United HealthCare (UHC). BCBSOK and Medica offer statewide plans while Bright, CCOK, Oscar, and UHC serve limited areas of the state.

Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income individuals and their families as well as seniors in the areas of family, consumer, housing, health and employment. Lawyers and legal aid staff work through a network of fully staffed law firms and satellite offices, serving eligible clients in all 77 counties of Oklahoma.
