Jesse Beck, Jr. Obituary – Oklahoman

Jesse W. Beck, Jr was born on March 30, 1945, in Dalhart, Texas to Jesse W. Beck, Sr. and Catherine Mary Beck, née Priess. Jesse showed his determination and courage as a newborn baby as the doctor informed his parents that he wouldn’t survive the whole night and they shouldn’t get attached to him, but he survived and his life was a testimony of the fighting. the spirit he carried within him. Jesse has an older brother, Robert “Bob”.

The Becks moved to Comanche, Oklahoma and it was there that Jesse met his future wife, Cecelia, in first grade, where they were both named class king and queen. It was a lifelong love and devotion they would have for each other and they were married for 57 years.

After graduating from Comanche High School in 1963, Jesse enrolled at the Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA) in Claremore on a football scholarship, and in his sophomore year married Cecelia. He then attended the University of Oklahoma and majored in political science with a minor in history. He was then accepted into law school and prospered doing law review and graduating in 1971.

He took a job with McKnight & Gasaway in Enid and practiced law there for 30 years. He was very involved in the community as he was active in the First United Methodist Church, President of the Rotary Club, Phillips University endeavors and was President of the Enid Chamber of Commerce. Jesse was also the unofficial tour guide for where he lived or where he was going, giving his friends and family hour-long car rides and tours of cities and all over the world. story they contained.

Jesse had a competitive streak and wasn’t easily intimidated. He also had a big heart and went out of his way to help those in need. To say he was unique is an understatement. We will miss him and forever cherish his memories and take comfort in knowing that he and his parents are watching over us.

Jesse is survived by his wife Cecelia, his son Jesse “Jay” Beck and his wife Kathleen (Dallas, TX); daughter Ali Zeck (Wimberley, TX), son Nathan Beck and wife Sabrina (Edmond, OK) and daughter Anna Zeck and husband Dustin (Manhattan, KS).

He also has 9 grandchildren – Clare, Jesse “Jack” and Lili Beck; Alec, Emma and Drew Zeck; KB and Sabrina Beck and Grace Zeck, and two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Charlie Zeck.

We love you Jesse and we will miss you.

A return visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baggerley Funeral Home. A wake-up service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S Littler Ave., Edmond, OK 73034. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery, SE corner of E 1810 Rd and N 2820 Rd, Comanche, OK 73529.
