Heart of Oklahoma High School football games on Friday night include Purcell on the road in Holdenville, Lexington heading to CHA, Washington hosting CCS and Wayne will be on the road against Healdton.

The Purcell Public Library will be holding Story Time at Purcell Lake – Preschool Story Time from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, October 11.

Join the fun at the Rotary Pavilion in Purcell Lake for stories, songs, games and more!

Purcell Lake Rotary Pavilion is located at 1400 Chandler Road in Purcell.

The Purcell Public Library will be holding its 3rd Saturday Book Group from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 16.

Adults are invited to participate in a virtual discussion about the book each month!

In October, the discussion will take place on The silent patient by Alex Michaelides.

The Heart of Oklahoma Room The annual Commerce Golf Tournament fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 15 at the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course in Purcell.

The four-man race will have a shotgun start at 8:30 am, followed by lunch and an awards ceremony.

A despicable lunar party will take place on Saturday, October 16 at 6 p.m. at the Purcell Multi-Purpose Center, 1400 Chandler Road.

The evening will include moonlighting with telescopes, popcorn, hot chocolate and an outdoor movie on the MPC’s front lawn.

Bring your garden chairs and blankets.

Halloween of the Heart will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 at Purcell City Lake.

A festival will feature a pumpkin patch, inflatables, Mr. Yeti’s hot chocolate, treats and more!

This event brings the community together to celebrate the season and draws crowds from surrounding communities.

In addition to the Festival, children can Trick or Treat the Town of Purcell Walking Trail during the event.

This is one of our favorite recipes at home! This is from my friend Ann Radford from Tulsa

Ann’s chili

1 lb lean ground beef, browned

1 can Bush’s Best Chili beans

1 can of diced tomatoes

1 can of Mexican tomatoes

Chili seasoning package

1/4 cup brown sugar

Head Country BBQ Sauce, to taste

Combine all of your ingredients in a slow cooker.

Cook 2-3 hours.
